Taquitos

Tonight, I am going to cook Taquitos. It will be my first time. I hope it'd be successful. I will take a picture after I cooked them and post it here later. I am going to update it probably tomorrow. And if it's successful, I am going to share my recipe here. Taquitos came into my mind when my husband told me that he was craving for Mexican food. It has been a while since I had Mexican dish. So, tonight I am going to cook Taquitos. I will update this post later for more details.

I am done with my shopping list for Christmas. I have listed down the items that I want purchase for my family. I am so glad that Sears is having a Layaway program for this holiday season. Morrison, Colorado - November 17, 2008: Red Rocks Data Center (RRDC), striving to become one of
the nation's "greenest" data centers, recently installed an environmentally responsible cooling system. They chose a Trane Voyager (http://trane.com) unit which incorporates an outdoor air economizer that uses free
mountain air to cool the data center.

Installation of this cutting edge cooling system has cut RRDC’s cooling costs to one-sixth that of their previous, conventional air conditioning system. “By cutting our consumption of green house gas emitting, coal-fired electricity, we have put our money where our mouth is in regards to becoming one of Colorado’s greenest data centers while passing the cost savings onto our customers”, remarked RRDC’s managing partner, Tom Nats. RRDC was recently awarded the Bronze level in the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s "Environmental Leadership Awards" for their energy efficiency. In addition, RRDC is working with the Colorado School of Mines to design a data center expansion area in the most environmentally-friendly means possible.

RRDC is hidden behind the "hog back" in Morrison, Colorado in a "frost hollow" that has abundant cool air. Housed in a former NASA satellite uplink facility, the center now draws cool, filtered mountain air into the building throughout the year, virtually eliminating the need for expensive air conditioning. Tom adds, “We will also be adding duct work to capture hot server air and use it to heat our office space during the winter months. This allows us to virtually eliminate our heating costs.” Mr. Nats adds “We also offer discounts to ‘green’ groups and nonprofits.”

Holiday shopping is such a big deal to most people. In shopping, you have to make a shopping list and a practical financial plan to avoid the post-holiday headache. What I usually do:

Are you ready for holiday shopping? Or have you already started shopping? Christmas will be here before we know it. I am still working on my shopping list for Christmas since funds are not allowing me to shop yet. I am going to buy my husband a designer shirt and warm outwear for Christmas - I bet, my husband will be surprised. However, I was glad to find out that Kmart offers layaway plan which I can pay for those items over 8 weeks time. I actually looked up their site today. In Layaway program, I just have to choose items, bring them to the Layaway counter and make a down payment. The payments are every two weeks. And after I’m done with payments, I can bring home the items. This is a good route to go since I don’t have enough funds yet for the coming holidays. However, I don’t want to use my credit card because I want to avoid interest. Last year, I spent more than I wanted because I waited until the store got so busy and I did not have time to meticulously choose what I wanted. And plus, the cheaper items were already gone. Christmas is weeks from now. I still have time avail of Kmart Layaway program. I would say this is a practical way for holiday shopping.

Saturn's auroral displays

This is the Infrared imagery from the Cassini orbiter, the northern lights on Saturn. The observation marked the first time a hexagon in atmospheric patterns - auroral displays. Halloween

It is Monday. I can hardly believe that the month of October is about to end soon. Time flies! Halloween will be here on Friday. Actually, I don't have any plans on Friday. back from vacation

Hi everyone! I am back from vacation. We went to Oregon to visit my husband's family and friends. It was very nice there. The climate was cooler than I thought. I guess, I underestimated the weather forecast. We had a lot of fun. I took some pictures in which I'll post them later. We drove from San Diego to Oregon. It was great road trip. It was raining on the way there. I got scared while driving through the mountain range. We actually went to Boring, Oregon. It was not boring at all! Anyhoo, I really liked it there. The place is really green. We'd like to get a place there someday. I think I'd prefer to live in a cool place or I don't know. I've never tried it before. Ok, enough of blah, blah. I took this picture at the park across my Doctor's office. It is a small lagoon. I really liked the park because of its landscaping. The place is not so big but great for picnic and stuff like that. I was surprised when I read in the news that the cool and hearthrob Paul Newman died yesterday. He was suffering from cancer. He was 83. My husband asked me if I want to watch "The Third Day" and other Christian bands concert tomorrow at Cricket Amphitheater in Chula Vista. I was in the state of confusion when he asked me about it. But I frankly told him that I am not going to watch because we have to finish off our filing and some other things. And I don't want to sleep late on Saturday night. The Jars of Clay will be there in the concert too (that is from what I heard). I like their song called "Flood". I am not really into watching concert right at this time. We just watched Maroon 5 concert about 3 weeks ago. And I didn't seem to enjoy. I told my husband if Newsboys will have a concert in the future, I'd love to see them. Maybe the Journey... excited about our trip

I am excited about our trip to Oregon next week. We will be taking the road and it takes 18 hours to get there. It will be my longest trip ever! We are going to stay there for a week. We are going to visit my husband's family. We did not see his family for two years now, except his mom. My mom in-law visits us here every year. However, I am very excited to see the trees and beautiful mountains of Oregon. I haven't visited this blog for 2 weeks. Oh boy, I need to write some posts here. I got very busy. By the way, I am kinda excited to watch Maroon 5 and Counting Crows concert tonight here in San Diego. My husband got discount tickets from his friend at work. I can't wait to hear the song "This Love". I really like that song. I don't really know Counting Crows but I've probably heard some of their songs on the radio. Reducing calories

Are you calorie-conscious? There are ways to reduce calories. I am not conscious of calories as I am not big. I tiny bulges in my abdomen; I just have to exercise so I can get rid of them. haha Anyway, as I said, there are ways to reduce calories in our diet. Take these steps to losing weight. First, include more vegetables in your diet. I really love vegetables and they more tasty than meat. Vegetables can be boring sometimes but you'll get used to it. When you eat more raw vegetables, the fewer calories you'll get. Second, avoid snacks in between meals, especially junk foods. When you eat junk foods be sure to read the Nutritional facts-- avoid high saturated fats, sodium and cholesterol. Those are bad for you. It is funny how my husband always says that those are "junk, crap and garbage". Third, dairy products-- always look for low fat and non-fat ones and as much as possible, get the organic kind. Seafood Cook off

I love seafood since I was a kid. I don’t eat it every day but they are just so good. Most especially, Tilapia fish—I love it fried. I would season the fish with salt; garlic, onions and pepper, then fry it. And dip in sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce with vinegar and spices. Writing this post right now makes me hungry. I also love fish soup—flavored it with lemon grass, tomatoes, onions and napa cabbage. And of course, seasoned with salt and pepper. I just love cooking food. My husband tells me that I love discussing food and I am not even fat. Haha I thought it was funny how he said that. Earthquake in Southern California

There was an earthquake yesterday here in San Diego, Ca. I felt the jolt while I was cleaning my nails on the bed. I thought I got dizzy but then I saw our door moving. And I screamed, “Earthquake! Earthquake!” I did not panic at all. I was very calm. I felt the shake lasted for 20 seconds. But it seemed like forever. I checked out the news after the incident—it said that the magnitude was 5.4. It only happened in Southern California (from Los Angeles to San Diego) and Nevada. I was glad to know that there were no casualties.

A woman gave birth to her 18th child

A Romanian immigrant in British Columbia has given birth to her 18th child and the province's most prolific mother in 20 years. The husband said Saturday that his 44-year-old wife gave birth to their daughter that weighed in at seven pounds, 12 ounces. Mamma Mia!

We watched the movie "Mama Mia" yesterday at AMC Theater. The movie was ok. But I liked the songs a lot. It is based on a musical show in Vegas. It is starred by Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and some other stars. There was a lot of corny scenes in the movie which I thought-- was weird. It was all about "Abba" songs. Overall, the movie was OK and good for those audiences that like musical show.
