Basia

I really love Basia's songs. Since I was a kid like in my early teen years which was in late 80's and early 90's--- I've always been fascinated with the songs of Basia. The first song that caught my ears was "One Note Samba". Then followed by "Cruising for Bruising", "A new day for you", "Time and Tide", "Promises" and many others. The Vegetable Orchestra

I found this awesome video from you tube. It is really neat. I was really amazed on how they came up with this. They made such beautiful music that sounds like techno. You can dance with it. The vegetable orchestra was founded In Vienna in 1998. The orchestra has 10 musicians, one cook, and one sound technician. It uses musical instruments made out of vegetables. Watch this video!

Get The Party Started

I came across this popular song, "Get The Party Started" on youtube. I found this wonderful and excellent Shirley Bassey's version. I really do think her version is better than the original version by "Pink". She makes this song sound like the "Bond" theme. I like this song a lot. For me, it's all time song. I really like Shirley Bassey's voice and her songs, most especially, "Goldfinger"from James Bond movie. I have known here since I was kid because my father has an album collection of her songs. Her voice doesn't change. She popularized the songs, "Diamonds are Forever", "I who have nothing", "This is my life" etc. No can ever compare to her voice. She is a great Diva!!

Alive

I was listening to the song "Alive" by POD today. I just really like that song. I decided to post the video of the song here to share it with my readers and friends. Thanks to You Tube. I was glad that there is something like this on the net where we can access videos that we liked. By the way, POD stands for "Payable On Death" entails the death of Jesus Christ. It is a christian band. They from San Diego (the place where I live). I have been longing to see their live concert sometimes. Here is one of their songs that I like a lot.

This is one of my favorite Christian songs. I really love this song called Flood by Jars of Clay.The band's name is derived from the New International Version's translation of 2 Corinthians 4:7:
“ But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us"

Rush

I can’t get the song “Freewill” by Rush off my mind right now. I just love that song. I didn’t know about the Rush band when I was still in the Philippines until I saw their concert at Coors Amphitheater here in San Diego last year. I probably heard their songs on the radio before but maybe I didn’t really care. My husband is a big fan of Rush and of course, he really enjoyed the concert at that time. I did enjoy too. The place was crowded with many fans. From then on, I began to like their songs. Rush is a Canadian band consists of three great musicians, Geddy Lee (vocalist), Alex Lifeson (the guitarist) and Neil Peart (drummer). Imagine, there are only three in a group. I know there are some groups comprising of three musicians like the popular band Nirvana. But Rush has its own style of music. The vocalist does the bass guitar and the keyboard “ the synthesizer” using his foot. Their style is from hard rock to progressive rock. However, I consider Neil Peart as one of the greatest drummers in the history of rock. He plays drums very good with his own style. Check out this song from Rush:

Bossa Nova

Right now, I am enjoying the swaying stream of a Bossa Nova music. It is a Brazilian type of music. I like Brazilian music despite I can't understand nor speak Portuguese. I just don't care about the lyrics when it comes to boss nova music, I really love the beat and the harmony. There are many boss nova songs translated in English so that works out with me (haha). The bossa nova style of music was popularized by the famous musicians Joao Gilberto and Antonio Carlos Jobim in 1950’s. Some of you may have heard about them. The first time I heard the song called " The from Ipanema" by Astrud Gilberto. I thought it was an Italian song. At that time, I just couldn't identify what it was. I didn't know any Portuguese and boss nova back then.

The bossa nova music derives from samba beat and is highly influenced by jazz. It is more commonly played on guitar and piano and sometimes with accompaniments of orchestra. And its rhythm always sways. The most popular boss nova was "The of Ipanema" which was sung by Astrud Gilberto and performed by the famous Antonio Carlos Jobim. It was also sung by Peggy Lee, which the title was changed to "The boy from Ipanema". I also like the song "Desafinado" which means "slightly out of tune" by Antonio Carlos Jobim and also popularized by Frank Sinatra in his own English version.

Indeed Bossa nova speaks with love and a bohemian life. Until now, it is still popular around the world. Here is one of the bossa nova music that I love. It is called "So nice" by Bebel Gilberto.

DC Talk

I really love this Christian song by DC Talk. It is called, "Just between you and me". I used to hear this song on the radio about several years ago. At that time, I did not know the song portrays a christian message. Click play and tune up your volume. Enjoy!

I was downloading songs from limewire and suddenly, I remembered a song. I twisted my brain to remember the title of the song. I couldn't sing it. Isn't it strange to you? Does it happen to you sometimes? Eventually, a flashback to my high school days. I used to collect song books. I remembered the artist, it was Brian Mcknight. I excitedly searched it through Google but to no avail. I gave up. But later, I realized not to give up. So finally, I thought of you tube. That was an easy one. I found it. The song was Love is by Brian Mcknight and Vanessa Williams. I really love this song. Unfortunately, I could not find a good original video of this song. Among the videos, this is the only one that I like. Click play and enjoy!
