Walking is one of the easiest ways to exercise

Walking is one of the easiest ways to exercise. It is generally recommended for its health benefits. There are many health benefits of walking. Walking can help your cardiovascular system, burn calories, lose weight, help you sleep better, minimize depression, prevent diabetes, cancer and strengthen your muscles and bones.

Inactive lifestyle can lead to poor health. That's how come, I want to make sure to exercise every day. Since I am a full-time and stay at home mom, I can be inactive. I can easily get tempted to just sit in front of the computer or tv for hours. I'm really doing my best to exercise at least 6 times a week. I do cardio exercise and walking. Walking is my favorite. All I need is my shoes.

Speaking of shoes, I love the womens new balance walking shoes. They are very comfy and flexible. Actually, my pair of new balance shoes is already 3 years old. They are still very comfortable and solid.

I really enjoy walking. I can bring my toddler with me and push him in his stroller. I get to share the experience and spend time with my little boy. That makes walking so perfect!

Subtle ways to burn calories

These are unnoticeable ways to burn calories. Try and you will lose weight before you know it.
1.Take the escalator but climb the stairs while you ride. Just 5 minutes of stair climbing burns 144 calories.
2. Instead of piling items on the stairs so you can take them upstairs at once, take them one at a time.
3. When cooling your heels while waiting in a doctor’s office, tore, or airport, stay on your feet standing burns 36 more calories per hour than sitting.
4. Rake leaves instead of using a leaf blower. You’ll burn 50 more calories every half hour.
5. Scrub your floors more often. Putting some elbow grease into cleaning floors is more intense than vacuuming and it makes your floors look better to boot.
6. Chew sugarless gum. Research has found that the action of jaw muscles alone burns about 11 calories an hour.
7. Wash your car by hand instead of taking it through the automatic car wash place. You’ll burn an extra 280 calories in an hour.
8. Play with kids: Impromptu games of basketball, touch football, or tag — or just jumping rope or throwing a ball — will help you use energy and set a good example of active play for the children. Calories burned: 80 to 137 every 10 minutes.

Do you shop online?

Shopping online has become very popular these days. Shopping can be really fun when you have the great and huge selections of different products. If so, here are my tips:

· Read the site’s privacy policy to learn how it uses and shares your personal information. Be aware that there are many online stores that sell your personal information.
· Shop at Secure Web Sites. Check if the site uses an encryption technology to transfer information from your computer to the online merchant’s computer. Encryption scrambles the information you send to prevent hackers from stealing the code. Look for the padlock icon on the browser, not on the web page.
· Secure your computer with anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall and others
· Use a credit card. Don’t you know that the safest payment method to use online is credit card? If anything goes wrong, you have the right to dispute charges and withhold payments on your credit card. You are protected under the Federal Fair Credit Billing Act.

More projects

We are slowly getting our house projects done. Completing house projects takes time. It seems like it takes forever. I must admit that I lost hope sometimes. I don't know if we could be able to find enough time to finish these projects. I guess, I need to be more patient and realistic. Anyhow, I was glad that we were able to do something in our bathroom the other day. My husband got a new toilet. I love our new toilet because it flushes well and it's very easy to clean up.  I would like to get some bathroom accessories soon. Fortunately, I found a website, waterworks.com, where I can purchase some modern bathroom accessories, faucets, bathroom vanities and tailored towels. I'm kind of excited to finish our bathroom project. I'm hoping we could get this done by Fall because I don't like to do any major thing on winter. I don't like to do any big chores on winter since it's cold.I better search more bathroom design ideas online. I'm inspired to make our bathroom neat, stylish and tidy.

Missed going to the beach

I missed going to the beach last Friday because I wasn't feeling good. I had a headache so we just stayed at home and didn't go anywhere. I want to make the habit of going to the beach every Friday with my toddler. I like it how he likes to play with the sand. It's funny how it would lie down on the sand and enjoy it. When I go to the store this week, I want to get him a tiny shovel and a sand bucket. My toddler is developing fast. He is at the age where he appreciates toys now. I guess, more toys to purchase lol.

It's a busy day!

It's Monday and it's already the 23rd of July! Time flies so fast, isn't it? Today is going to be a very busy day. I have a lot of things to do. I have to go the mobile store to transfer my old phone number to my new mobile phone. After that, I have to go to the store and get a mailing package envelope. After that, I'm going to send the package to UK through post. And in the afternoon, it's grocery shopping time! Whew! What a long day!

As I get older, my life has become very busy. I thought it ended after I graduated from college. I was wrong! haha Good thing that I don't have to take any board exam or bar exam after college. And speaking of bar exam, one of my friends is going to take bar exam tomorrow up to Thursday. Sounds stressful, huh? After he passed the exam, he's going to check out some business law firms near his place. Sounds nice! I pray that he passed the bar exam. I think he will, because he's a smart student.

Well, I better get going now so I have a productive day.

Unexpected gift

I got a gift from my mother in-law on my birthday. I didn't expect her to give me something since she already got me sandals when she visited us here in Southern California. She sent me a small package through Fed Ex. I was really surprised. The contents in the box were two boxes of my favorite tea, "Spiced Chai Tea" and a body wash. It was really nice of her.

Komodo dragon

Komodo dragon at the zoo. Last time we went to the zoo, the komodo dragon was sleeping so we didn't get the chance to see this amazing creature. But this time, the komodo was awake. It was really cool that I was able to take a picture and get to see it.

Alternative to smoking cigarettes

We all know that smoking cigarettes is dangerous to your health. People smoke for many different reasons. But smoking cigarettes can cause major health problems, such as, lung cancer, heart problems, asthma, high blood pressure, and many more to mention. Cigarettes contain detrimental ingredients and carcinogens. Smokers don't think about these harmful chemicals and toxins found in cigarettes.

Another concern that smokers should consider is the secondhand smoke. Secondhand smoke is a combination of the smoke from the cigarette and the smoke exhaled by smokers. It is also known sidestream smoke. It contains much greater concentrations of carcinogens than the mainstream smoke. This harmfully affects those who don't smoke at all.

However, it's good to know that smokers can find some alternatives to smoking cigarettes. Many smokers have successfully quit cigarettes by using electronic cigarettes. There's no ash and no smoke when you smoke e-cigarettes because it's not made of tobacco. It tastes and looks like the regular cigarettes. This is a good alternative and good for our environment.

E-cigarettes can easily be obtained online. You can look up and search online for stores that carry this kind of product.

Warm weather

The husband put our comfortable in the closet yesterday. Apparently, he realized it's getting warmer every day. I really have a feeling that it's going to be hotter this year. I mean, we are already in the mid 60's here on May. What else could I expect on summer. Of course, higher 60's, right? Despite that, I'm looking forward to doing more outdoor activities on summer. I want to take my toddler a walk in the beach during weekdays. And then, he can play in the sand.  It's just going to be me and my little man because his dad works on week days. It's still going to be fun.

Itchy and achy throat

I've been having itchy and achy throat for two weeks now. I am not taking any meds but tea. I drink medicinal or herbal tea to feel better. I really don't want to drink any drug or medicine right now. I just want the natural process to do its job. I've been drinking Traditional Medicinals Organic Lemon Echinacea Throat Coat tea. I hope I'd feel better soon. If I don't get any better until next week I'm going to see my Physician and hopefully, he'll prescribe me some antibiotics. I really do think this is caused by bacteria not virus. But let's see. I cannot really diagnose myself.

Travel

It's May! Wow time flies by so fast. I'm excited to meet up my visiting friends from the Netherlands and Arizona and a friend in Los Angeles today. I'll be driving up to L.A in a little bit. It's going to be my first time driving alone for a long trip. The trip from San Diego to L.A takes about two hours. I just hope the traffic is not bad on the way there. I'm going to leave SD at around 10am so I'll be in Redondo Beach at around 12 noon. I'm kind of excited and nervous at the same time. I mean, I've never driven alone for two hours. It's going to be challenging but I pray for a safe travel.

Online Registry

Authored by Rickey Combs

I just remembered that I have a baby shower for one of my coworkers in 3 days. There is no way I am going to have time to go to the store between now and then and pick out a gift! Luckily, I saw on wichita falls clear 4g that she is registered online at Target. I’m thinking I will just pick something from her online registry, purchase it online, and have it delivered to her home. It probably won’t be able to get there in time for the shower in three days, but at least I could let her know what I got her and that it is coming. Plus, it would be something she registered for, so I know she will like it. I might even print off a picture of the item I buy for her, and tape it to the inside of the card, so she knows that is what I got for her. Yes, I think that is what I will do! No need to stress about going to the store.

Roasted Veggies

I made roasted veggies the other day. I super loved it. The veggies turned out really good. My husband even liked it. I roasted some zucchini squash, asparagus and broccoli. They are green! (lol) Next time I will add some carrots. I love cooking for my family. I get so inspired when I cook for them. Next week, I'm going to roast some eggplants, artichokes, bell peppers and broccoli and then toss these altogether with fresh angel hair pasta and add a little bit salt and pepper and Parmesan cheese. There you go!

Mountain Cabin

Guest post from: Kent Lara

I love our mountain cabin. It’s so nice to have somewhere to go that’s just a getaway – there’s nothing to do there but be with the family and relax and that’s just the way I like it. My husband talked for a while about putting in a satellite dish but I don’t want to take away from our family game night or the time we spend just chatting by the fire. I relinquished the right to veto internet service West Virginiaproviders since he sometimes has to work up there and one computer is enough to really make me feel like I’m losing my family to technology sometimes. I love that we’ve got a place to go and just be together but I wish the rest of my family took it as seriously as I do sometimes. I just don’t know what it is about being the mom that makes you feel the need to bond everyone together but I sure wish I could figure out a way to do a better job of it!

Vegetables chips

I got vegetables chips instead of potato chips the other day at the store. Oh, I love these chips. They are way better and healthier than those greasy potato chips. The pack contains, green beans, squash, taro roots, and sweet potatoes. I also got some roasted okras. They were pretty good. I I like it when you can find some snacks like these. They are healthy!

Finding a Job

Guest post written by my buddy Aldo Mays

Last year I decided that I wanted to go back to work after 10 years of being a stay at home mom. I was scared, and I knew that finding a job would be tough. The economy is already bad, and when you factor in my 10 years if inactivity in the professional world, my chances of getting a job were pretty grim. I knew I needed to do something untraditional if I wanted to succeed. A friend of mine who is a freelance writer said she would send me some work, and I thought that was a great way to get started. I’m a good writer, and then I could at least put something recent on my resume. The one problem is that I didn’t have an internet connection at home, so I had to get wild blue and then I could get started. So far things have worked out. My friend sends me a set of prompts to write about every week, and then I send back the completed files. I feel lucky to have such a great job where I can work from home and I set my own hours. I’m glad I’m not bogged down by a traditional desk job.

A gift

My got this really baby stuff from my friend in Scotland. I was surprised to receive the package in the mail three weeks ago as I didn't expect her to send stuff for my baby. But that was really nice of her. My birthday is next week. She sent the gift too soon because she had a bad experience with the mail before. She sent me a package and it took a month until I receive. This time the gift arrived earlier than she thought. Anyhow, I was really thankful for giving these Marks and Spencers baby clothes and shoes.

Dreaming of the Boardwalk Empire new season

Guest post written by Annabeth Caudill

I just can not stand to wait for the new season of Boardwalk Empire to finally come on. I caught a marathon sometime last year and Instead of taking it as a marathon I thought that maybe it would be a good idea to go ahead and just watch this new season like a regular person when it airs. Besides, we have he channels to wear we can do that before.

I guess that I have been a little manic about all of the watching I'm going to do of Boardwalk Empire, but regardless we've been getting our information out there regardless of who it's really going to. I've found most of the info with our wireless internet Philadelphia and I can't wait for even more of the spoilers to get leaked before the new season comes out.

I'm really curious to see if Bucky has the guts to go into a full-fledged gangster. Something tells me that's not going to happen and that it's going to cause even more headache for him and his people because of it.

Happy New Year everyone!
