Missed going to the beach

I missed going to the beach last Friday because I wasn't feeling good. I had a headache so we just stayed at home and didn't go anywhere. I want to make the habit of going to the beach every Friday with my toddler. I like it how he likes to play with the sand. It's funny how it would lie down on the sand and enjoy it. When I go to the store this week, I want to get him a tiny shovel and a sand bucket. My toddler is developing fast. He is at the age where he appreciates toys now. I guess, more toys to purchase lol. 

Vegetables chips

I got vegetables chips instead of potato chips the other day at the store. Oh, I love these chips. They are way better and healthier than those greasy potato chips. The pack contains, green beans, squash, taro roots, and sweet potatoes. I also got some roasted okras. They were pretty good. I I like it when you can find some snacks like these. They are healthy!

A gift

My got this really baby stuff from my friend in Scotland. I was surprised to receive the package in the mail three weeks ago as I didn't expect her to send stuff for my baby. But that was really nice of her. My birthday is next week. She sent the gift too soon because she had a bad experience with the mail before. She sent me a package and it took a month until I receive. This time the gift arrived earlier than she thought. Anyhow, I was really thankful for giving these Marks and Spencers baby clothes and shoes.

February is the month of hearts

February is the month of hearts.Many people have forgotten what this day is all about. They thought it is merely for lovers, couples, loved ones, crushes, friends, for romance etc. But today is St. Valentine’s Day. It is covered with mystery. Who is St. Valentine? Valentine was a priest who served for the period of the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II determined that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families. He had forbidden young men to get married who were potentially to be good soldiers. St. Valentine realized the discrimination and unfairness of the decree. He challenged Claudius and sustained to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's dealings were revealed. Claudius ordered that Valentine be put to death. During the days that Valentine was in jailed, he fell in love with the blind daughter of his warden. He miraculously heal her from her blindness because of his love for her and great faith to God. Before his death, he sent her a letter saying, "From your Valentine." The phrase has been used on his day ever since.

Why Valentines Day is symbolized or associated with Cupids? It is because the story of Cupid is one of love. Cupid was said to have fallen in love with Psyche, a mortal. He married her, but she was forbidden to look at him. One day she disobeyed these orders but Cupid ran away from her. In order to be reunited with Cupid, Psyche paid a visit to Venus, Cupid's mother. After making her undergo several tests, Venus reunited Psyche and Cupid. Eventually, according to the story, Cupid and Psyche gave birth to a child named pleasure (what a name!). Other legends about Cupid's arrows. It is said that whoever is struck or hit by Cupid's arrow immediately falls in love with the next person they see. Supposedly, this is how Venus came to fall in love with the god Adonis. Cupid's arrows are either golden or leaden. A golden arrow represents true love, while a leaden arrow represents lust. Sometimes, Cupid is even said to carry a torch. This torch is supposedly used to light passion between a man and a woman.

It is the day to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Enjoy!!! There are three purposes of Christmas: Christmas is a time for celebration because God loves us, He is with us and He is saving us. Christmas is a time for salvation because He saved us from our sin, for a purpose, by His grace. And lastly, Christmas is a time for reconciliation. What kind of peace does Jesus give us? peace with God (spiritual), peace of God (emotional) and peace with each other

Halloween

Are you ready for Halloween? I don't really care for Halloween, it's no big deal to me. Back in the days in P.I. my family observe the "All Saint's Day and All Soul's Day". These are the days after Halloween. I didn't grow up participating on Halloween that much. I was wondering how Halloween got started. So, I researched on the net (Internet has become my library now!) and found out that Halloween originated back more than 2,000 years. The Europe's Celtic people celebrated their New Year's Day on November 1, called Samhain (SAH-win). The night before Samhain, people thought spirits, Fairies, demons, and other creatures were to walk the Earth as they traveled to the afterlife. They sacrificed animals to the gods by gathering around bonfires. And they wore animal skin costumes and wearing masks to confuse spirits, perhaps to avoid being possessed. Moreover, the Celts costumed as spirits are believed to have gone from house to house engaging in silly acts in exchange for food and drink, which is the "trick-or-treating" now.

Then, Samhain was later adopted by Catholic for pagan holidays. And In the seventh century Pope Boniface IV decreed November 1 All Saints' Day, or All Hallows' Day. The night before Samhain continued to be observed with bonfires, costumes, and parades, under a new name: All Hallows' Eve—later "Halloween."

Phishing emails and text messages

I was really surprised when I received a strange text message from USE Credit Union. The message stated, “FRM:USECU MSG:USE Credit Union Message: please verify your account-‘suspicious activity’. Verify at (blah, blah,).com. I can’t recall having any account with them. I was going to verify it with my husband but I decided to check out USE credit union website. I learned that USE members may be at risk due to phishing emails and text message that has been circulating lately. So, if you have an account with USE credit union, just ignore the message. Don’t fall for it. It is a trap and a scam. The said text phishing message asks members to verify their account through a fraudulent link or website. USE advised all members to reject it and not enter any personal information over the telephone or any fake links. If you already have acted in response to the phishing text message, you should contact the official USE contact no. Or visit their official site.

Been very busy

I am very busy today. It is not because tomorrow is the Valentine’s day. It is just that I have many pending opportunities and chores. I did not have enough time and energy to finish them up in the past few days. Time didn’t allow me. Now, my back hurts. Well, I need to go back to exercise. I was not so religious with exercise lately. I guess, I am less motivated to do so. Are you motivated to exercise every day? I really admire those who are really focused on daily exercise. I wonder how I can motivate me myself. This backache might motivate to exercise. haha

I was saddened....

I was saddened by tragic news today. A Continental Connection Flight 3407 from Newark, N.J. airplane crashed in New York. I don’t like reading news everyday because all I see is just bad news. We hardly hear any good news. It only implies that the world is not perfect. Back to the news, the commuter plane killed fifty people. This is very disappointing. It dropped from the sky and crash on a suburban Buffalo house, which killed one person in the home. It was said that it was the country’s first deadly commuter plane crash in two years. According to the investigation, there was ice building up on airplane’s wings, which is the common cause of airplane crashes. This sudden incident is inevitable. We can’t really foresee what’s going to happen with our lives. To know more about this news, check out yahoo news.

Finally got a layout for this blog

I am back. I finally got this awesome layout from the net. I thought it would be hard for me. It wasn't. It only took me 15 minutes to browse the net for some blogger themes. Actually, I am very much happy with this theme, though, I still want to adjust some codes in this layout. By the way, I got it from btemplates.com. So, if your blog is under blogspot.com, get some themes at that site. The site is free from virus based on my experience. But I cannot really assure that every template on that site is free from virus or any malware. Just be careful and be sure your antivirus and antispyware is ON.

Taquitos

Tonight, I am going to cook Taquitos. It will be my first time. I hope it'd be successful. I will take a picture after I cooked them and post it here later. I am going to update it probably tomorrow. And if it's successful, I am going to share my recipe here. Taquitos came into my mind when my husband told me that he was craving for Mexican food. It has been a while since I had Mexican dish. So, tonight I am going to cook Taquitos. I will update this post later for more details.

Halloween

It is Monday. I can hardly believe that the month of October is about to end soon. Time flies! Halloween will be here on Friday. Actually, I don't have any plans on Friday. I really don't know yet if I'd go somewhere. I still have to ask my husband and besides, I don't have a Halloween costume. I don't want to spend money on that because it is just passing. Or maybe I can improvise or customize a costume. I'm not really into this Halloween thing except for the candies. haha

Deodorant

Aluminum is a common ingredient in deodorant and antiperspirant. My husband asked me if I want to watch "The Third Day" and other Christian bands concert tomorrow at Cricket Amphitheater in Chula Vista. I was in the state of confusion when he asked me about it. But I frankly told him that I am not going to watch because we have to finish off our filing and some other things. And I don't want to sleep late on Saturday night. The Jars of Clay will be there in the concert too (that is from what I heard). I like their song called "Flood". I am not really into watching concert right at this time. We just watched Maroon 5 concert about 3 weeks ago. And I didn't seem to enjoy. I told my husband if Newsboys will have a concert in the future, I'd love to see them. Maybe the Journey... Oh, I am getting sleepy.. so much for blah, blah, blah! Have a good weekend everyone!

Earthquake in Southern California

There was an earthquake yesterday here in San Diego, Ca. I felt the jolt while I was cleaning my nails on the bed. I thought I got dizzy but then I saw our door moving. And I screamed, “Earthquake! Earthquake!” I did not panic at all. I was very calm. I felt the shake lasted for 20 seconds. But it seemed like forever. I checked out the news after the incident—it said that the magnitude was 5.4. It only happened in Southern California (from Los Angeles to San Diego) and Nevada. I was glad to know that there were no casualties.

something new

We went to the shooting range yesterday. It was my first time to go to a shooting range here in San Diego, Ca. I remember the first time I went to a shooting range in Philippines. I was really not intimidated by the sound of the gun because it was an open field and plus I was younger back then. I was easy go lucky. But yesterday, I was really intimidated and scared of the sound of guns. My husband brought his 9mm gun and he taught how to use it. It is nice to know how to use guns and how to shoot a target. It is for self-defense. Being so nervous, I can't concentrate. But when I started praying to God. I calmed down and was able to shoot the target. I was still kinda tensed. The air was cold and my hands were shaking. I was happy when it was over. However, we will go to the shooting range again, in one of these days and practice some more just for a hobby.
